"Look at Me I'm Learning... " Author Daniel Williamson's Language Learning for Little Ones

The Look at Me I'm Learning... Series is a set of children's books focused on teaching kids words in different languages. This series not only helps children apply new language skills as they develop but also helps them get a bigger worldview. As kids learn new languages they are able to get a snapshot into other cultures in the world, strengthening their social awareness.

Look at me I'm Learning... has books in French, Spanish, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Chinese Mandarin, Hindi, Russian, and Arabic. The series was published in December 2019.

This bilingual picture book series is designed to introduce very young children to the basics of a new language in a fun and colorful way. The message this series portrays to kids is that language learning can be fun!

I hope that this series is an amazing gateway to language learning for young children and the perfect way for bilingual parents to introduce their children to their native language in a fun and colourful way that is endearing to young children. -Daniel Williamson

We asked Daniel what sparked his journey to writing this series.

I was inspired by a friend who told me she couldn't find any picture books to help teach her daughter Italian. After doing some research I realized there were only really, boring-looking textbooks available and hardly any bilingual picture books full of color and the basics of language learning (in any language). It was then I decided the world needs these! And so I got to work.

What was the most difficult part of your Journey?

Working with 10 different translators and all the files flying back and forth in different languages has been a real challenge! I also had to get secondary translators to check the work. I had to stay very organized and luckily I had a good designer to help. Overall it was an incredible amount of hard work.

All that hard work has definitely paid off though! Daniel Williamson has received a ton of positive feedback and reviews from parents and children, vindicating his decision that this series needed to be written.

Seeing children getting excited about your books and also enjoying them in person is the best feeling ever. -Daniel Williamson

Daniel tells us that his mother inspired him from the start. She noticed he had talent and convinced him to go all the way with it. With this support, he has decided to make a full career out of his writing. While his artist, Kleverton Monteiro, and his designer may have experienced some turbulence in the production process of this series, he is happy to say they are a stronger team now than ever.

Daniel Williamson was born in Perivale, London 28th April 1979. After 13 years in the capital, he earned a scholarship to Bembridge Private School on the Isle of Wight, largely due to his advanced English writing skills. During his teenage years, he participated in school productions, band, and choir and also the South Wight Youth Theatre amateur dramatic society. He was involved in productions such as Carmina Burana, Hiawatha, Peanuts, and Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat.

After attending Nottingham Trent University from 1998-2002 much of his time was spent traveling the globe, even visiting Wonders of the World such as Christ the Redeemer, The Taj Mahal, and The Great Wall of China. After the birth of his daughter, Carmela in 2014 his passion for writing was re-ignited and after a brief spell of script writing, he turned his attention to children's stories due to the inspiration he gained from his mother Jacqueline's Montessori nursery and his own volunteer work at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Daniel's 'Look at Me I'm Learning' bilingual series has now reached best-seller status multiple times across multiple countries. After redirecting his efforts towards publishing 7 original and very humourous picture books, Daniel will be returning with a brand new bilingual picture book series which will include visiting the countries and learning about the cultures and traditions also!
