Moby's Thanksgiving Fun

Hi friends! Moby here. I want to take the time to tell you all about my favorite things to do during this holiday season.

Thanksgiving is a great time of year! We get to give thanks and show appreciation to everyone in our life. I'm thankful my dad is home for Thanksgiving this year. He's in the United States Marine Corps and sometimes he has to be gone for important things like my birthday. But not this year! Here's a picture of me and my dad when he got home from a deployment below.

There are a ton of family traditions and fun-filled activities that can be done for Thanksgiving. Even though we are so close to other holidays, don't forget to celebrate Thanksgiving!

Here are some super fun things you can do as a family this year!

Cooking

I love to cook! And even though we are kids we CAN cook! If you don't believe me, just watch Gordon Ramsey's, Master Chef Junior. It's one of my favorite shows. Now, I'm not saying you should jump into the kitchen without an adult. But, with the right preparation, we can enjoy some fun cooking time with family.

Don't forget to tell your family that you are thankful for the time you have with them and for the food you are making!

Here are some easy-peasy recipes you can do with an adult at home!

Decorating

There are so many ways you can help your family decorate for Thanksgiving! I like to collect leaves and pinecones to place on the table. You can also use pretty rocks or shells depending on where you live!

Things to be thankful for: your home, the things you collect, and the time you are spending together.

Crafts

There are many things you can make to help decorate for Thanksgiving, from painting pumpkins (no that's not just for Halloween), to coloring pictures of turkeys. Here are some of my craft ideas!

  • Pumpkin Painting

  • Pinecone Painting

  • Salt Dough Handprints

  • Painted Handprints

Sharing Thanks Activities

Everyone has their own way of sharing what they are thankful and grateful for but if you haven't landed on your own tradition here are some ideas.

  • Journaling- Let everyone in the family take five to ten minutes to write about what they are thankful for and then share!

  • The Thankful Tree- Put a picture of a tree on the wall. Throughout the day everyone writes down what they are thankful for (on the tree, not the wall!)

  • Thankful Bowl- put a bowl in a gathering space and have everyone write down things they are thankful for and put it in the bowl. Then take turns reading it out.

  • Table Sharing- At the family meal, take turns going around the table to share what you are thankful for this year.

Do you have another way you share thanks for Thanksgiving? Let me know in the comments!
